Department: Fabricator
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Summary: A Fabricator is engaged in all activities essential to fabrication including but not limited to; MIG welding, TIG welding, cutting, joining, shaping, project construction, equipment repair, tool fabrication, tool repair, general housekeeping and other tasks as assigned by the fabrication supervisor. It is expected that the Fabricator leads and directs their team with a positive attitude while maintaining focus on daily objectives. The fabrication team plays a vital role in Horizon’s success.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to read blueprints to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, dimensions and tolerances, design details, e-drawings models, and BOM to plan and execute daily fabrication builds which include tooling and fixtures
- Certified in forklift operation
- Able to fit, set, and install fabricated structures within the facility
- Able to hand-form, cut, or finish workpieces when required
- Ability to set up, operate, or tend machines to plasma, saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material
- Able to measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using tape measures, micrometers, gauges, calipers, and templates.
- Able to set examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and identify defective pieces according to types of flaws.
- Able to set stops and adjust components when making multiple or successive passes on equipment
- Able to set mark identifying data on workpieces
- Able to set remove vent tubes, tool holders, or other accessories to replace worn or broken parts, such as clamps, springs, or bushings
- Able to place workpieces on working tables, manually or using hoists or cranes
- Able to set clean tooling parting lines on workpieces, using hand torches.
- Ensure planned work schedules, preventative maintenance schedules and responsibilities are completed for fabrication equipment
- Coordination and communication with engineering as well as other departments and personnel as required
- Ensure spare supplies, materials and components are received and stored in an efficient and economical manner, and maintain required records in conformance with company policy
- Is compliant with safety standards in accordance with company policy
- Maintain fabrication work order system and update daily
- Able to measure and scribe reference lines on workpieces as guides for cutting or drilling operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
- Able to set stops and adjust components when making multiple or successive passes on equipment
- Able to assist with equipment evaluation and placement of machine and tooling, requiring movement of secondary equipment as needed.

Physical Requirements:
Position includes, walking, standing, lifting to 50lbs and working in a production setting.
