Summary:

Designer Drafter for a rotational molding company in Lake Mills, WI. This position is responsible for gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material and equipment requirements, and setting up production methods.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and architects.
  • Design products with engineering and manufacturing techniques.
  • Responsible for Calculating dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials
  • Describing production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
  • Create manuals that describe existing products’ operation, features and maintenance
  • Utilize SolidWorks to Create Custom Solutions for Projects and/or subcomponents
  • See Projects through from the Sales Concept to the Final Installation.
  • Conduct design reviews to verify dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
  • Specify Components Required for Assembly of the System
  • Create Manufacturing & Assembly Drawings
  • Create Engineering Related Documentation (BOM, Spare Parts List, etc.)
  • Manage the Scope of Work for Mechanical Design on Projects, including verification of the Designs to ensure effective
  • Support Fabrication, Testing, and Installation Activities to ensure Products and Systems conform to Engineering Design and Customer Specifications.
  • Provide Guidance in Technical Risk Evaluation and Engineering Composition as part of the Engineering Team.
  • Ensure Commitments on Projects are met including Cost, Function, Performance, Serviceability, and Appearance.
  • Receive & Validate Components
  • Advise / Direct / Assist Mechanical Integration and Assembly of the Designed Components
  • Support Fabrication, activities to ensure Products and Systems conform to Engineering Design and Customer
  • Specifications.
  • Conceptualize and Design Concepts for the Sales Group
  • Perform Office Related Tasks (updating project flow worksheet, service reports, email communications, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

Position includes, walking, standing, lifting to 50lbs and working in a production setting.
